According to L'Equipe, Aston Villa have joined Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to sign want-away Nantes striker Yacine Bammou.

The 24-year-old is ready to quit the French club after a disappointing 2015-16 campaign which yielded just four goals in 32 Ligue 1 appearances - 17 of which were starts.

Nantes boss Rene Girard is willing to sell the Morocco international as a result of his goal-shy form, seemingly alerting the likes of Aston Villa, Leeds and Wolves.

L'Equipe reports that all three Championship clubs have him on their radar but the French publication claims that Toulouse are favourites to sign him.

It goes on to state that Bammou - who was born in France and has never played club football outside of his birth country - would be willing to leave, with Toulouse reportedly his preference.

In Marcus Antonsson and Kemar Roofe, Leeds have already signed two strikers this summer so it remains to be seen how solid their reported interest is.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, definitely need a goalscorer if they are to win promotion back to the Premier League.

Aston Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo has made three signings this summer, bringing in Pierluigi Gollini, Tommy Elphick and Aaron Tshibola - one goalkeeper and two defenders.

Bammou is contracted to the French outfit until 2019, but his and his manager's reported desire to get a transfer sorted would surely lower his valuation.
