Glasgow Rangers new boy Joe Dodoo has insisted in the Glasgow Evening Times that the Ibrox side can rival Celtic this season.

Rangers are set to return to the top flight, and they face the task of breaking up Celtic’s dominance of the Scottish Premiership in recent years.

Celtic have won the last five titles, but Dodoo is optimistic that Rangers can challenge them for honours this term.

"Can we match Celtic? Of course we can! Rangers is a big club,” the striker said.

Rangers have certainly been more active than Celtic in the transfer window, after bringing in nine players so far.

Dodoo is one of the new arrivals at Ibrox, and he has been impressed by his new teammates already.

“We have amazing quality. At the back, in the middle, up the top we have the players who can achieve something great this season,” the youngster added.

Dodoo has joined Rangers from Leicester City, and he remains somewhat of an unknown quantity.

Most of the attacker’s first team football has come out on loan with Bury, but he has made a positive start with Mark Warburton’s side.

Dodoo scored on his Rangers debut, and he could be set to feature later this evening in the Glasgow side’s match against Stranraer.
