Barton joined the Gers on a free transfer this summer and looks set to be a key figure at Ibrox this season.
Holt enjoyed an impressive debut season at Ibrox last term after joining from Hearts, scoring 12 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions.
His place is likely to be under increased threat this season as Mark Warburton brings in a raft of new players, but Holt admitted that there is one signing in particular that he cannot wait to get to know.
The 23-year-old pinpointed Barton's arrival as the one which has excited himself and his teammates, as the young members of the Gers squad look ahead to playing alongside the one-time England international.
33-year-old Barton enjoyed a stellar season with Burnley last term, helping to lead them to promotion back to the Premier League before making the move north of the border.
Holt believes his experience will be key for Rangers this season and admitted that he feels there is a huge amount he can learn from the player who has courted controversy throughout his career.
Holt told the Gers official website: "I speak for the rest of the players when I say we’re really looking forward to playing with Joey, training with him and being in and around him on a day-to-day basis.
"I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from him, along with the other experienced players who have come into the club over the summer."
Barton made his competitive debut for Rangers as a substitute in the Scottish League Cup win over Annan Athletic last week, and he will surely become more involved over the next few weeks as he works his way up to full match fitness.
