Glenn Hoddle has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on 25th July, that Tottenham Hotspur can challenge for the Premier League title again next season.

Spurs finished last term in third place, and they pushed Leicester City for much of the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side ultimately fell short in their efforts to win England’s top flight for the first-time.

However, Hoddle believes that the Lilywhites have the potential to challenge at the top again next term.

“I think I am [confident about Tottenham’s chances],” Hoddle said. “There’s six or seven teams who think they can win the league. Spurs will be one of them. They’re a team and a squad which doesn’t need massive changes.

“Like the England team, they will have learnt a lot of going through the experience of losing their heads at the wrong time. They’ll be better for that. I don’t see any reason why they can’t challenge again for the Premier League.”

Tottenham had put some pressure on Leicester towards the end of the season, but a poor run of form in their final few fixtures ended their chances.

Spurs have a young squad though, and they have also added quality to their team this summer.

Tottenham have brought in Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama to increase competition for places.

Tottenham kick off their season with a match against Everton at Goodison Park on August 13th.
