Celtic are set to sign Kolo Toure - and Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that another player could sign too.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told The Scottish Herald that he remains hopeful that a third summer signing will arrive by Monday afternoon.
The Bhoys may have been beaten on penalties by Leicester City on Saturday evening, but they appear to have been given a major boost on the transfer front.
As Rodgers told The Scottish Herald, free agent defender Kolo Toure is set to sign for Celtic today, having undergone a medical in Glasgow on Saturday afternoon.
The Ivorian will become Rodgers' second summer signing, following Moussa Dembele to Celtic Park, but may not be included in Celtic's squad to face Astana in the Champions League on Wednesday having played no football over the summer.
Celtic are able to make one 'wildcard' addition to their squad ahead of Wednesday's game in Kazakhstan, but with Rodgers' men flying out on Monday afternoon, there's a race against time for Celtic to make third signing of the summer and get them involved against Astana.
When asked about the situation after facing Leicester, manager Rodgers admitted work has been going on behind the scenes to try and get another deal done, but knows a new face may not be snapped up in time to face Astana on Wednesday night.
"That’s something that we need to wait and see," said Rodgers. "We’ve got some work going on behind the scenes so hopefully we can get some business done. It’s obviously going to be tight, we leave Monday afternoon," he added.
With Toure arriving to solve some problems in defence, Rodgers may look to bring in a new winger, with the Daily Mail claiming that Celtic have had three bids rejected for Aston Villa's Scott Sinclair.
Sinclair - who worked with Rodgers at both Chelsea and Swansea - would be an exciting addition for Celtic, but with a huge gap between Villa's valuation and the Bhoys' bids, it seems unlikely that a deal for Sinclair would be done by Monday.
