Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann believes that Georginio Wijnaldum represents a "great signing" for his old club.
The 25-year-old midfielder joined Liverpool in a £25 million deal from Newcastle United this week, according to The Telegraph.
The Dutchman, who can play out wide or central midfield, netted 11 Premier League goals for the Magpies in a prolific debut season last term, having joined United from PSV Eindhoven last summer, but it was not enough to keep Newcastle in the top flight.
Wijnaldum will add plenty of pace, power, versatility and drive to Liverpool's midfield, and Hamann - who joined the Reds from Newcastle in 1999 - says it's a fantastic bit of business for manager Jurgen Klopp.
Me neither, think it's a great signing. Need some pace and power going forward, been to one dimensional last season https://t.co/yAeQ8AQipz— Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) July 24, 2016
Wijnaldum, who netted four in one Premier League last term, certainly knows where the goal is and Liverpool fans will be delighted with his arrival for the most part.
He is Klopp's second most expensive signing of the summer, coming in behind Sadio Mane who set the Reds back some £34 million following his big-money switch from Southampton earlier in the month.
The pair could earn their competitive debuts at the Emirates when Liverpool visit Arsenal on August 14.
