Pundit Stan Collymore has taken to Twitter to cast doubt over Tottenham's decision to sign striker Vincent Janssen this summer.

Spurs swooped to land Janssen from AZ Alkmaar earlier this month, with the 22-year-old penning a four-year deal at White Hart Lane after a quite stunning season with AZ.

Janssen - a former Feyenoord youngster - joined AZ from Almere City last summer, and after something of a slow start to life in the Eredivisie, he ended the campaign as the league's top goalscorer.

With 27 league goals, Janssen followed in the footsteps of players such as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Luis Suarez and Wilfried Bony in winning the Eredivisie's top goalscorer award - and he's now heading to North London to give manager Mauricio Pochettino another attacking option.

A new striker was a necessity for Pochettino, as Spurs' leading goalscorer Harry Kane started in every Premier League game last season and desperately needed some support, especially given how fatigued he looked for England during Euro 2016.

Janssen's arrival is a boost for Pochettino, but pundit Stan Collymore isn't so sure that Janssen is the answer to Tottenham's striker shortage.

Collymore took to Twitter to suggest that Tottenham can't expect to rely on Janssen given the hit-and-miss success rate of Eredivisie strikers in England - after all, for every Van Nistelrooy or Suarez, there's a Mateja Kezman or Afonso Alves, who struggled to make the transition to English football.

The former Liverpool striker then added that a player like Christian Benteke or Saido Berahino should be targeted given how they are bedded in to the Premier League, whilst also adding that Spurs can't use Son Heung-min as a striker either, meaning they should go for at least one more centre forward this summer.

Do you think Janssen will be a success at Spurs?
