Stan Collymore has taken to Twitter to react to David Moyes’ appointment at Sunderland.

Moyes was confirmed as the new Sunderland manager on Saturday morning as they moved quickly to secure their new boss.

They needed a replacement for Sam Allardyce, who left the Stadium of Light to become the new England manager on Friday.

The Black Cats are hoping that Moyes can help to establish them as a top half team, something he did to great success during his long spell as manager of Everton.

Collymore isn't sure that can happen though, as he expressed his doubts that Moyes is the same man that did such a good job at Everton in the past.

It now remains to be seen whether Moyes will prove to be a smart appointment at Sunderland.

He will be determined to prove a point in the North East, having seen his previous two jobs at Real Sociedad and Manchester United end in failure.

Next season’s success will likely rest on the work he can do in this summer transfer window, with the belief being this current squad is in need of change if it is to avoid battling relegation in future.
