Answering a question on Twitter, Stan Collymore has said that he believes Kolo Toure still has the quality to be a star for Celtic.

The defender is available on a free transfer after this summer after Liverpool opted not to hand him a new deal at the end of last season.

He is expected to complete a move to the Scottish Champions this weekend and reunite with former manager Brendan Rodgers, who is seeking new signings at the club.

His defence is in particular need of improvement, with major doubts over the likes of Efe Ambrose.

There are some questioning the signing given the Ivorian is now 35-years-old, but answering a question on Twitter, Collymore has insisted that Toure still has the quality to be a success in Scotland.

It now remains to be seen if Toure is the only defensive addition to arrive at Celtic this summer.

While the quality of the current squad has been questioned in general, it is the defence that many believe is the true weak spot of the team.

It is something that Brendan Rodgers is likely to be acutely aware of and it will be interesting to see if he views Toure as good enough to solve the issue.
