Everton beat Barnsley 3-0 in a pre-season friendly today.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman
Everton kicked off the Ronald Koeman era with a 3-0 win away at Championship side Barnsley this afternoon, as Ross Barkley impressed at Oakwell.
The Toffees moved to appoint Koeman earlier this summer in an ambitious raid on Southampton, and with their first pre-season game today, fans got their first chance to see Koeman's side in action.
It was an impressive win for Everton, as they coasted to a 3-0 win over the newly-prompted Championship side, with a strong Toffees side easing past the Tykes.
Kevin Mirallas, Gerard Deulofeu and Ross Barkley all found the net for Everton, and Koeman won't only be happy with three goals, but also a clean sheet.
Ross Barkley celebrates scoring the third goal for Everton against Barnsley
On Tuesday, Koeman will take his side down to face Milton Keynes Dons, but for now he appears to be happy with today's result.
The Dutchman took to Twitter after the game to send a message to supporters, celebrating a 'solid win' over Barnsley, whilst admitting his delight with three goals as well as a clean sheet.
Koeman also praised the 'great support' from Everton's travelling fans, who will have no doubt enjoyed a winning start to Everton's pre-season fixtures.
With just three weeks to go until Everton kick off their Premier League season against Tottenham, Koeman will be hoping to generate some real momentum in the upcoming pre-season games, with fixtures against MK Dons, Dynamo Dresden, Real Betis or Werder Bremen, Manchester United and Espanyol - but for now, it's the perfect start for Koeman at Everton.
