According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland’s squad are relaxed about the departure of Sam Allardyce.

The Black Cats manager officially left the club on Friday afternoon as he took up the vacant England job following a week of speculation about his future.

His departure is a disappointing one for Sunderland after he led them to Premier League safety in fine fashion last season.

Given his impact at the club since arriving, it would have been unsurprising to see the players saddened to see him leave so soon.

However, it appears that is not the case. Instead, the Daily Mail reports that they are relaxed about the situation and already discussing his apparent replacement, David Moyes, in a WhatsApp group.

According to the report, while they credit Allardyce with doing a fine job last year, they believe their survival was as much down to first-team coach Robbie Stockdale as it was the new England boss.

As a result, they will let it be known to Moyes when he arrives that they would like to see the 36-year-old continue in his current role in the new setup.
