Rangers' Dominic Ball celebrates at the end of the match
The Gers have been busy strengthening their squad this summer having won promotion back to the Scottish Premiership, with a total of nine new faces brought in.
Matt Gilks, Lee Hodson, Clint Hill, Matt Crooks, Josh Windass, Joey Barton, Jordan Windass, Niko Kranjcar and Joe Dodoo have all arrived at Ibrox, but manager Mark Warburton appears to be keen on adding more.
The Scottish Sun report that Warburton wants a new defender snapped up by the time Rangers' league season starts on August 6th, leaving him just two weeks to get a deal done.
Intriguingly, a familiar target is mentioned in the report too, as it's claimed that Rangers still want to bring Tottenham's Dominic Ball back to Ibrox.
Ball, 20, spent last season on loan with Rangers, and was a valuable player under Warburton, featuring at centre back or in defensive midfield, but he's now returned to White Hart Lane.
A deal to bring Ball back to Ibrox hasn't materialised yet, but the report claims that Rangers still want to re-sign Ball, hopefully before Rangers take on Hamilton in two weeks.
Ball is unlikely to have a major role at Tottenham next season, but manager Mauricio Pochettino is known for giving chances to young players, and given that Ball has travelled with the Spurs squad for a pre-season trip to Australia, Pochettino may just want to see how Ball has developed during his year away from the club.
That leaves Rangers waiting, but with Warburton keen to get a new defender in soon, the Gers may end up switching their attention elsewhere if they can't bring Ball back to the club.
