Leicester City are looking to bolster their defence with Lokomotiv Moscow captain Vedran Corluka
Croatia’s Vedran Corluka is wanted by Leicester
Leicester City are looking to bolster their back-line with former Tottenham Hotspur defender Vedran Corluka, according to the Mirror.
Claudio Ranieri is determined to provide cover for Robert Huth and Wes Morgan, whose partnership was pivotal to Leicester’s title success last season.
And the Italian has earmarked the Lokomotiv Moscow captain as the ideal man to bring Champions League experience to the King Power stadium, with the Foxes set to enter the competition for the first time next season.
He can play at either full-back or centre-back, and featured at Euro 2016.
Corluka has Premier League and Champions League experience
Croatian international Corluka, who has also spent time at Manchester City, spent four years at the Lane, joining from the Citizens after a year in the North-West in 2008.
During his time in North London, Corluka racked up 108 appearances in all competitions, scoring just the once – against Bolton Wanderers in 2009.
Corluka has spent four years in Russia
Since departing English football, Corluka has established himself as a key part of Lokomotiv’s back four, joining after a loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen.
Corluka was brought to Moscow by compatriot and now current West Ham manager Slaven Bilic, and whilst he didn’t make it past a year in the Russian capital, Corluka is now a part of the furniture at the Lokomotiv Stadium, becoming their captain at the start of last season.
Corluka’s warrior-like performances at Euro 2016 have caught the eye
It was his performances at Euro 2016 that seem to have caught Ranieri’s eye, but he is not the only one, with the Mirror‘s report also detailing interest from Bayern Munich.
Corluka has made 90 appearances for his country, scoring 4 goals.
