Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Georginio Wijnaldum’s move to Liverpool.

The Dutchman completed a switch to Anfield on Friday in a £25 million deal, signing a five-year contract with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He leaves St James Park after just a year at the club, during which he scored 11 goals in all competitions, a tally that saw him finish as their top goalscorer as they were relegated to the Championship.

His large price tag has come as something of a surprise given that Steve McClaren only paid £14 million to bring him to the North East last summer.

And while some Newcastle fans were sorry to see Wijnaldum go, others were pleased at the big price they had secured for his signature.

It now remains to be seen if Wijnaldum is the final player to leave Newcastle United this summer.

They have already lost Andros Townsend and Wijnaldum and there is fierce speculation regarding the future of Moussa Sissoko after his performances at Euro 2016.

A departure now looks imminent for him too, although the Magpies are sure to demand a big fee for him as they did with Wijnaldum.
