Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told the club's official website he hopes the fans saw Joe Dodoo’s qualities in the win over East Stirlingshire.

Rangers took on East Stirlingshire in the BetFred Cup on Friday evening, running out comfortable 3-0 winners.

Youngster Dodoo was handed his debut in the 60th minute, after he completed a move from Leicester City last week.

It proved to be a goalscoring start for him too as he tapped home a cross from Lee Wallace in the first minute of injury time to round off the scoring for his side.

It was a great moment for the 21-year-old and Warburton was more than pleased by the display that he put in.

“I hope the fans saw his pace, his willingness to come short and to show a very composed touch,” he told the club’s official website.

“He didn’t mind a mistake – if he miscontrolled one it didn’t bother him – and he got his reward.”

Warburton will now be hoping that there is more of the same to come from Dodoo as the season progresses.

The Rangers boss is not blessed with a plethora of attacking options in his squad, with Martyn Waghorn and Kenny Miller his main options at present.

That means he is relying on Dodoo being a hit and he will be keen to see him build on this positive start to life at Ibrox.
