Van Persie joined Fenerbahce from Manchester United at the start of last season amid much fanfare but it has to be said that the move has not quite worked out for both parties.
Admittedly, van Persie did score an impressive 22 goals in all competitions last term but the Dutchman has not always been a regular starter and Fenerbahce are now believed to be keen on dispensing with his services this summer.
Even van Persie is ready to leave the Turkish giants and a move back to the Premier League has been seen on the cards for the 32-year-old.
It has been claimed recently that Premier League duo Stoke City (Daily Mirror) and West Ham United (Daily Mail) are interested in signing van Persie and now reports from Spain have provided an update regarding the status of the prospective transfer.
According to Sport, both Stoke and West Ham are currently in negotiations over the signing of van Persie but the two sides are not yet close to reaching an agreement for the former Arsenal skipper.
Despite his advancing years, van Persie remains a top quality striker and could well prove to be a very good addition for Stoke or indeed West Ham during the upcoming Premier League campaign.
