Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham Hotpsur manager Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as a surprise candidate for the vacant Argentina job following Gerardo Martino’s reisgnation, La Nacion reports.

Pochettino is under contract at White Hart Lane until 2022, and it would seem he is extremely content in his job at North London and not looking to move on anytime soon.

Having said that, leading your nation is often cited as the pinnacle of a manager’s career and Argentina’s current batch of superstars such as Lionel Messi and Angel d Maria must be hard to resist.

The report also names Diego Simeone and new Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli as options.

French publication L’Equipe claim Lyon have expressed an interest in signing Clinton N’Jie.

The 22-year-old joined Spurs at the start of last seaosn but ultimately struggled to break in to the first-team, featuring roughly for only 184 minutes of Premier League action last term.

Marseille are also said to be keen on the player, with the southern French side looking at a loan deal.

Another player linked with an exit is Tottenham defender Federico Fazio, yet reported suitors Espanyol look to be getting cold feet over a deal as they seek different alternatives.

Mundo Deportivo claim Espanyol are struggling to meet the North London club’s demands for the player, and as such have switched their sights to fellow targets Ivan Marcano and Alvaro Dominguez.
