Tottenham Hotspur could struggle to offload Federico Fazio as Espanyol are looking at alternative defensive targets at the moment, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo.
Tottenham sent Fazio out on loan to Sevilla in January last season but as the Argentine failed to impress on his return, the Spanish side have understandably not taken up the opportunity to sign him on a permanent basis.
As a boost to Tottenham’s hopes of offloading Fazio, it had been reported by Sport a couple of weeks ago that Espanyol were keen on signing the defender.
However, the Mundo Deportivo recently claimed that despite all three parties wanting the transfer to go through, there is a complication to the potential deal as Espanyol are not able to afford Tottenham’s demands for Fazio.
Now in a further update, Mundo Deportivo have stated that Espanyol have been unable to make much progress in regards to negotiations with Tottenham over Fazio and as a result, the Spanish side are planning to switch their attention to signing alternative targets Iván Marcano and Alvaro Dominguez.
