Paris Saint-Germain's Presnel Kimpembe has reportedly rejected terms on a new deal
French news outlet L'Equipe are reporting that Paris Saint-Germain's young French defender Presnel Kimpembe has rejected terms on a new contract offer from the club.
L'Equipe reported back in March that Merseyside rivals Everton and Liverpool were interested in signing the 20-year-old, and with the latest news emanating from France, they could take it as a green light to make a move for the youngster.
Kimpembe is an exciting youngster with a bright future ahead of him
Liverpool completed the signing of Estonian centre-back Ragnar Klavan on Wednesday, so it is debatable whether Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will be in the market for another defender. Everton's need for a central defender, however, is far more pressing, with Phil Jagielka approaching the twilight years of his career and the future of John Stones becoming increasingly uncertain.
Will Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp want to bring another centre-back to the club?
Kimpembe made six appearances for PSG in Ligue 1 last term, helping his side concede only two goals in those outings. He is physically imposing and quick along the ground which is a fantastic combination for centre-back.
The jump from Ligue 1 to the Premier League would be a tough one for someone so young, but by no means unmanageable, especially when he possesses the exact attributes required to be successful in England's top flight.
It will be an interesting story to keep an eye on over the coming weeks as transfer activity gathers momentum across Europe, and the usual domino effect begins to materialise.
Everton manager Ronald Foeman will surely be looking to strengthen his defensive options
