Newcastle United should make a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Alex Pritchard, as they look to replace Georginio Wijnaldum.
Wijnaldum is set to complete £25 million move to Liverpool in the near future.
It leaves Newcastle looking for a goalscoring midfielder to replace the Dutchman, and Pritchard fits the description perfectly.
The 23-year-old has been on the verge of a breakthrough at Tottenham for a number of years, but he has not quite managed to make the grade at White Hart Lane.
Pritchard’s last spell in the Championship was highly successful, when he was on loan at Brentford.
The attacking midfielder netted 12 goals in 45 appearances for the Bees, and he became their main creative force - despite being only 21 at the time.
During his time at Brentford, Pritchard was heavily focused upon by opposition teams, as he was clearly the London side’s dangerman, yet he still managed to catch the eye.
At Newcastle he would have more freedom on the pitch - given the sheer amount of attacking talents available to Rafael Benitez - and he would surely thrive with such space.
Newcastle have already assembled an impressive squad as they look to bounce back from relegation, but the addition of Pritchard would add even further quality - and at £8 million he could work out to be a real bargain for the Tynesiders.
