Rangers new boy Lee Hodson has told the Daily Mail a trio of ex-Ibrox stars sold him on his summer move from Milton Keynes Dons.

Hodson, who already knew Gers boss Mark Warburton from their time together at Watford, became the club's eighth summer signing when he joined for an undisclosed fee at the start of July.

However, the 24-year-old revealed he was mulling over the move when he linked up with Northern Ireland ahead of Euro 2016.

Though his mind was all but made up at that stage, a chat with three former Rangers stars made his decision absolutely certain.

"I spoke to Steven Davis, Kyle Lafferty, Roy Carroll and they all said it was a massive club and a fantastic opportunity so if I got the chance take it," Hodson told the Daily Mail.

"To be fair, when I first heard there was a possibility of me coming here my mind was already made up and there was only one place I wanted to go.

"But they sat down and had a chat with me and told me everything I needed to know. Davo is a great captain for Northern Ireland and him speaking to me told me everything I needed to know."

As well as being teammates at international level, Davis and Lafferty played together at Ibrox between 2008 and 2012, with Carroll's brief spell in Glasgow ending shortly before the former's arrival from Aston Villa.

Lafferty, who spent the back end of last season on loan to Birmingham City, faces an uncertain future at parent club Norwich City after their relegation back to the Championship.

The striker recently admitted he would welcome a return to Ibrox, but is unsure how the fans would react (Scottish Sun).
