Ayoze Perez has thanked Newcastle fans for their support and spoken of his desire to score goals next season after finding the net against Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday night.

The Spaniard came on at half-time, with the Magpies’ two-goals down following a poor first-half showing, and played a crucial role in their second-half fight back.

Isaac Hayden reduced the deficit from a corner and a sublime Perez strike late on completed the comeback. The 22-year old took to Twitter to send this message yesterday:

Perez looks set to remain a major component of Rafael Benitez’s squad next season despite being linked with a move away consistently over the past two years - with Spurs reportedly his biggest fans.

The versatile frontman seems fully focused on performing for Newcastle and fans will be desperate to see him remain on Tyneside come the close of the transfer window.

Perez and fellow striker Aleksandar Mitrovic showed signs of a promising partnership towards the end of last season and they have the potential to take the Championship by storm.

Benitez has made some shrewd acquisitions this summer, with the likes of Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle already proven in England’s second tier, and he will be confident of returning to the top flight at the first time of asking.
