Steve Walsh has reacted to his move to Everton via the club’s official website, saying he is proud and privileged to join the Blues.

Walsh joined Everton from Premier League champions Leicester City on Thursday after they made a move for his services last week.

He has taken up the new Director of Football role at Goodison Park, with the hope he can be the link between manager Ronald Koeman and the board.

He is the latest change at the club this summer as Farhad Moshiri continues to usher in a new era since becoming a majority shareholder earlier this year.

And reacting to the move, he says that feeling of the dawn of a new era was very exciting for him.

“I'm proud and privileged to become Director of Football at such a fantastic and historic club,” he told the club’s official website.

“With a new manager and a new major shareholder, it feels very much like a new era here at Everton and that potential is what is most exciting,”

The Blues will now be hoping that Walsh can enjoy the same kind of transfer success he enjoyed with the Premier League champions.

He was credited with taking the likes of Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante to the club, with both going on to become key players in their title winning success.

Those type of signings would be warmly welcomed at Goodison Park, even if they do have more money to spend under Moshiri this summer.
