According to a report in the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier is set to be handed a new contract by Daniel Levy.
Dier’s performances at Euro 2016 for England have seen his reputation rise even further, and Spurs are wary of interest that could come in for the youngster.
Levy has acted fast to ensure that any speculation over Dier’s future does not arise, and has offered the defensive midfielder a new deal to make him one of Tottenham’s top earners.
Dier is set to sign a deal worth £70,000-a-week, which highlights his value to Tottenham.
Dier only signed a new contract at Tottenham last season, but his progression this season has caught the eye.
Dier’s new deal will last until 2021, and Spurs will hope he continues to develop at his current rate.
He will immediately become one of the top earners at White Hart Lane, and Spurs are hoping that the wage offer should keep the England international content for the years ahead.
The move is said to have gone down well with Mauricio Pochettino, as he is determined to keep his key players with him at White Hart Lane.
The Telegraph reports: “His new contract will run until 2021 and will delight Pochettino and his backroom staff, who have been determined to keep their best players.”
