A deal for Hanley is almost agree, reports claim
The Sun reports (Thursday edition, page 53) the Scotland international will collect a mere £20,000-a-week when his move to St. James' Park is finalised.
And according to a report in the Daily Star earlier this year, that's only a fifth of what predecessors Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor were earning combined.
Coloccini (left) and Taylor were said to be taking home £100,000 a week between them
Coloccini, who has returned to Argentina with San Lorenzo, was said to take home £60,000 a week, with free agent Taylor on £40,000, which, added together, equates to around two thirds of Hanley's reported transfer fee when you deduct his rumoured earnings.
Of course, these figures may not be entirely accurate, but if they are then Newcastle look to have conducted yet another bit of brilliant business, with Georginio Wijnaldum said to be on his way to Liverpool for £25 million (Sky Sports).
Newcastle will reportedly make an £11 million profit on Wijnaldum after one season
The Sun reports that 10 per cent of Hanley's fee will go to former club Crewe Alexandra, who the 24-year-old played for at youth level.
Will Hanley save goals as well as pennies?
