Tuesday night saw Rangers make it two wins from two League Cup group games, with the 2-0 triumph over Annan Athletic adding to Saturday’s victory over Motherwell.

The Gers bossed the game from start to finish and gave the Ibrox faithful the chance to see a host of their new signings in action for the first time.

Matt Gilks, Josh Windass, Lee Hodson, Clint Hill and Nico Kranjcar all featured at Ibrox for the first-time, but the biggest cheer of the night came with Joey Barton’s arrival.

The 33-year old has quickly endeared himself to Rangers fans, due in no small part to his social media antics, and he took to Instagram once again to thank the supporters for his welcome.

The former Burnley man came on for Windass as a second half substitute and almost made a dream start, curling a free-kick narrowly wide moments after his arrival.

Barton looked assured in the heart of midfield and with fellow newcomers Kranjcar and Windass also impressing, Gers fans will be full of excitement for the season ahead.

Mark Warburton has been shrewd in the transfer market this summer and on early evidence has built a squad capable of pushing Celtic all the way.
