Jamie Carragher has suggested that he is interested to see how Jurgen Klopp plans to make Georginio Wijnaldum fit in at Liverpool.
Newcastle United and Liverpool have agreed a £25 million fee for the midfielder (Sky Sports), who is expected to complete a move to Anfield in the near future.
Liverpool want to take Wijnaldum with them on their pre-season tour of America, to ensure that he has time to adapt ahead of the new campaign.
And Carragher says that he is intrigued by the transfer, as he does not see a clear way for Wijnaldum to get into Liverpool’s starting line-up as an attacking midfielder.
Interested to see where he fits in, CM alongside Can? One of the three behind the striker? What's his best position?? https://t.co/6Pen74b1dX— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 21, 2016
Wijnaldum’s inconsistency was a frustration at Newcastle last season, but his quality was obvious.
The Dutch international netted 11 goals in his first season in the Premier League, but it was not enough to stop Newcastle from being relegated.
Rafael Benitez’s side did initially want to keep hold of Wijnaldum, despite being relegated, but decided that Liverpool’s offer was of an acceptable value.
Wijnaldum will become Liverpool’s sixth signing of the summer, if he does complete a move to Anfield.
