Tim Sherwood has expressed some doubts on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on 20th July on TalkSPORT, that Vincent Janssen will hit the ground running at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have signed Janssen from AZ Alkmaar to provide competition for Harry Kane in the upcoming season at White Hart Lane.

Janssen scored prolifically in Holland last term, but Sherwood feels that it is a big step up to do the same in the Premier League.

“When you take a player from Holland it’s a little bit unknown,” Sherwood said when quizzed on Tottenham’s summer transfer business. “It’s far easier to score goals in Holland than the Premier League. I hope for Tottenham’s sake he can take that form into the Premier League.”

Tottenham beat off a lot of competition to land Janssen, who was desperate to move to White Hart Lane.

The 22-year-old netted 27 times in the Eredivisie last term, and he has been compared to Ruud Van Nistelrooy before.

Janssen set Spurs back £17 million (BBC Sport), and he has signed a four-year deal with the Lilywhites.

Janssen is one of two players that Tottenham have completed deals for this summer, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side also snapping up Victor Wanyama from Southampton.
