Ronald Koeman has told Everton’s official website he is excited about taking on Tottenham in the opening game of the new season.
The Dutchman took charge of the Blues last month after completing a move from Premier League rivals Southampton.
He is currently focused on pre-season and getting his squad into shape before the start of the new season, with them recently completing a fitness based trip to Austria.

He has been handed a tough beginning to life at Goodison Park as they take on Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur at home on the opening day.
Some would be disappointed to start against a team who were the third best in the Premier League last season, but Koeman insists he is excited by the opportunity.
“You look forward to the serious games,” he told the club’s official website.
“It’s a fantastic game. It’s a difficult start to the season but it’s a difficult start for Tottenham as well. It will be great to play that game at home with all of our support. We’re looking forward to the start of the season.”

It now remains to be seen if Everton can start positively against Spurs on the opening day.
While Koeman sys he is excited by the prospect of the game, he will have secretly preferred an easier start to his reign on Merseyside.
At the same time, the game provides his side with the perfect opportunity to start the season strongly and banish any lingering thoughts of last season’s disappointment.
