Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Georginio Wijnaldum is said to be confident he could instantly break into the North London club’s starting XI were he to move to White Hart Lane.

That is the claim of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, which reports on Tuesday that whether the Newcastle United midfielder ultimately moves to Spurs, Liverpool or Everton he has no doubt he would be able to make an instant impact.

Tottenham may be wary of the player’s alleged £25million price tag – and rightly so – but if he does ultimately arrive at the club he would have one hell of a challenge to get in ahead of Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen and the like.

Tottenham have plenty of attacking options in central areas and while he may be confident of pushing another star name aside, they will obviously have other ideas.

In truth Tottenham do not really need a player like Wijnaldum but it will be interesting to see what the rest of the transfer window has in store.
