According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal will meet with Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi’s agent today to discuss a move.

The Gunners are looking to add a striker to their squad this summer after Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott failed to prove they can perform consistently last season.

They had moved for Jamie Vardy before the start of Euro 2016 but he elected to stay with Premier League champions Leicester City.

They have been linked with several strikers around Europe since then, with Inter Milan forward Icardi one of the names suggested.

And it appears they are keen on him too, with Corriere dello Sport reporting that they are meeting with his agent today to discuss a move.

According to the Italian newspaper, the Gunners are willing to offer the striker wages of £5 million-a-year, a substantial increase on the packet he currently earns in Milan.

As yet no agreement has been made with Roberto Mancini’s side for his services, but a bid is expected sooner rather than later.

According to the report, Arsenal are willing to offer between £33 million and £42 million to try and tempt them into a sale.
