Tottenham new boy Georges-Kevin Nkoudou thinks highly of his Marseille predecessor Dimitri Payet.
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou at Marseille
Tottenham's imminent signing Georges-Kevin Nkoudou is expected to seal his move this week, with The Guardian reporting he was set to undergo a medical.
Nearby he will face off against West Ham's Dimitri Payet twice a season, the man he succeeded at Marseille.
Payet is a player he admires greatly, so much so that he even vowed to name his kid after him - when Payet netted a crucial goal at Euro 2016.
France's Dimitri Payet celebrates after the game
As reported by Mou.fr at the time, Nkoudou was enraptured with Payet after the Frenchman's late winner in Les Bleus Euro 2016 opener against Romania.
A France under-21 international himself, Nkoudou made a pledge, having become a father the same day to a boy he named Nicolas.
He joked: "Well I changed the name of my son I'll call now Dimitri Congratulations @ dimpayet17 thank you for the emotions."
The match was an emotional one for Payet who went onto become a Euro 2016 runner-up with France, and Nkoudou could one day take his place if his move to Spurs pans out to be a success.
Whether Nkoudou went through with his pledge is unclear, but it shows how much respect he holds for a player who will now be his rival.
