According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United are looking to bring in two more attacking players before the close of the transfer window.

The Magpies are hunting another striker and a goalscoring midfielder, as Rafael Benitez looks to ensure he has a squad with enough quality to get out of the Championship next season.

Newcastle have already brought in five new players this summer, and they have kept the bulk of their squad together.

However, with Georginio Wijnaldum set to depart in the near future - Newcastle are now making plans for life without the Dutch midfielder.

Newcastle should receive a large fee for Wijnaldum, and Mike Ashley is prepared to invest the bulk of that back into the squad.

Benitez feels that securing a goalscoring midfielder will be crucial for Newcastle, as they look to fill the void that Wijnaldum’s impending departure leaves.

And, despite the addition of Dwight Gayle, Newcastle also reportedly would like to add another striker to their team.

Newcastle already have Aleksandar Mitrovic, Adam Armstrong, Ayoze Perez and Gayle competing for a place up-front, but Benitez feels that there is room for one more front man in his squad.
