Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly on the verge of bringing in a new winger.
According to a recent report from the Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Georges-Kevin N’Koudou from Marseille for a fee in the region of £11million.
Spurs fans will know not to count their proverbial chickens just yet, with a similar move for Vincent Janssen dragging on far longer than they would have hoped before the Dutchman finally arrived at White Hart Lane earlier this month.
But assuming the 21-year-old does ultimately sign for Tottenham, what could his arrival mean for another young winger currently on their books?
Nathan Oduwa is only a year younger than N’Koudou but his career has stalled after an initially impressive loan spell at Rangers was cut short.
He later struggled to make any impact at Colchester United before a poor summer with Nigeria’s under-23 side ultimately saw him miss out on a place in their Olympic squad.
That was somewhat ironic after Sky Sports claimed Oduwa had turned down a new contact in North London and planned to use the Olympics to impress other clubs.
As things stand it seems a long hard road back to first-team contention for the 20-year-old, who has one year left on his current deal, and N’Koudou’s arrival is only going to make things harder.
At his best Oduwa has the innate talent to succeed at Tottenham, yet he is far from his best right now and it will be interesting to see if the arrival of another young left winger makes or breaks his Spurs career.
