According to reports from the Blackpool Gazette, Bristol City are interested in securing the services of Conor McLaughlin.

McLaughlin enjoyed a fantastic campaign in League One last season, where his contribution went a long way in helping Fleetwood Town avoid relegation and then managed to impress at the highest level by putting in number of quality performances for Northern Ireland during the European Championship in France.

As a result, it has been no surprise to see McLaughlin being linked with a move away from Fleetwood this summer and with the defender having entered the final year of his contract at the Highbury Stadium, it is widely expected that he will leave.

Now in a development to the story, the Blackpool Gazette have gone on to claim that while Leeds United are currently leading the race for McLaughlin, they will be facing competition from Bristol City to sign the 24-year-old.

Bristol are currently in the market to sign a new right-back and the Robins have been linked with a swoop for Sunderland defender Adam Matthews (The Bristol Post).

Despite their long standing interest, the deal for Matthews does not seem to be progressing as well as intended and manager Lee Johnson is believed to be viewing McLaughlin as an alternative.
