According to the Mirror, Liverpool will have to pay £25 million for Newcastle United star Georginio Wijnaldum and the player is thought to be keen on the move.

The Dutchman is expected to leave St James' Park this summer following the Magpies' relegation to the Championship.

He was their star man last season as he scored 11 goals in the Premier League after joining from PSV Eindhoven in the summer.

That form caught the eye of several top flight teams, who are now keen to bring him on board this summer.

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested according to the Daily Mail, while Sunday saw the Telegraph claiming Liverpool are in fact leading the race.

Jurgen Klopp has already added Sadio Mane to his attacking ranks but reportedly views Wijnaldum as a key acquisition.

Newcastle are not keen to sell though, and according to the Mirror the Reds will have to pay £25 million to secure his signature.

However, the good news is that they also report the player is keen on making the move to Anfield should the two sides be able to agree a fee.
