Fulham have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper David Button from Championship rivals Brentford, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

As revealed by HITC Sport last week Fulham were lining up a move for Button as they look to bring in a replacement for Andy Lonergan following his departure to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Button's future at Brentford looks uncertain after Brentford secured the signing of Southend United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley earlier this month.

Button, 27, began his career as a youth player at Tottenham Hotspur and after a number on loan spells and one-year stint with Charlton Athletic he found first-team football with Brentford in 2013.

He has gone on to make over 130 league appearances for the Bees since, and during their time in the Championship he has been an ever-present between the posts.

Fulham are understood to have agreed a £1.5million fee with Brentford for Button and the player has been locked in talks with Fulham over a switch to Craven Cottage.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is eager to build a squad capable of mouting a bid for promotion back to the Premier League next season after two seasons of battling to stay up in the Championship.
