Nemanja Matic was disappointing last season for Chelsea
Chelsea completed the signing of N'Golo Kante on Saturday from Premier League champions Leicester City.
With the French international likely to start in the holding midfield role for the Blues, Nemanja Matic's place in the side will now be in doubt.
The Serbian was superb in Chelsea's Premier League title-winning campaign of 2014/15, but his performances dropped significantly last term, and he was singled out as one of the main reasons for his side's demise.

ESPN reports that the London club are prepared to listen to offers for Matic, and could sell for as little as £15 million, with Juventus said to be interested in securing his services.
However, there is a Premier League club who would be greatly improved if they signed the Chelsea midfielder.
The 27-year-old Serbia international would be a fantastic acquisition for West Ham United.
After the departure of Alex Song, they only have Cheikhou Kouyate who is of the required standard to play the holding role. The Senegal international is more of a box-to-box type midfielder, though, so the Hammers desperately need a squad member who can sit in front of the back-four and break up the attacking play of the opposition.
In his prime, there was no one better at this than Matic, and who is to say that a move across London would not reignite the Chelsea man's career?
Matic excels at breaking up the opposition's play
The Hammers have some fantastic players, and their move to the Olympic Stadium has increased their reputation, pulling power and financial muscle to the extent that players of Matic's ilk are no longer considered out of their league.
He would be a terrific addition to the West Ham side and would improve them instantly. If the reported price tag is correct, he would be an absolute steal in the current market.
With the amount of fancy footballers in Slaven Bilic's squad, the Croatian would do well to add more grit and steel to his midfield, and should test Chelsea's resolve with a bid for the Serbian.
If any kind of move ever did materialise, the East Londoners would be in a fantastic position to challenge for a top-four place.
