Derby's Will Hughes would be a terrific signing for Leicester
They are not only able to compete financially for players that would have once been considered beyond their reach, but they can also attract young up and coming stars. With Claudio Ranieri renowned for his man-management skills, there must be plenty of players who would love to play under the Italian.
With this in mind, the Foxes should consider an ambitious move for Derby County's Will Hughes. The 21-year-old is one of England's hottest properties and has been linked with some of the league's biggest clubs. Indeed Liverpool were reportedly prepared to pay £15 million for Hughes' services last year (The Mirror) but a deal never materialised.
Hughes is one of England's best young players
Leicester would be the perfect club for Hughes to showcase his talents and develop into the kind of player that he is capable of becoming.
The Derby man's impeccable technique and range of passing would offer the Foxes' midfield an entirely different dimension. With Danny Drinkwater sitting in the deep-lying play-maker role, and the direct styles of Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton on the flanks, Hughes could slot seamlessly into the number 10 position.
He would actually give Ranieri the option of mixing up his playing style and system by playing 4-2-3-1; something that will be crucial in their efforts to avoid becoming too predictable.
Would Derby consider selling Will Hughes to Leicester?
Even with the local rivalry between the two clubs, the financial power now possessed by the Foxes should easily enable them to table a bid that the Rams could not refuse.
With Leicester's ageing squad, Hughes would be the perfect signing to inject a touch of youthful enthusiasm into the squad and keep the current crop of players motivated.
If a move came to fruition, it would be one beneficial to all parties involved. Leicester would gain a fantastic young, talented player, in an area of the pitch where they need more options.
Derby would receive a substantial transfer fee which would enable manager Nigel Pearson to make the necessary additions to ensure his side challenge for promotion, and Hughes could join a club where he would be given the perfect platform to become even better than he is already.
Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has the man-management skills to get the best out of Hughes, and should consider a move for the Derby man
