However, the arrival of Japanese international Sakai on a free transfer earlier in the window, combined with the temptation of a move to the Premier League, means he now looks likely to become Hornets boss Walter Mazzarri's fifth summer signing.
Reports in France claim Watford have now had a bid of around €4million accepted by the Ligue 1 club.

The 25-year-old is understood to be interested in making the move to the Premier League, although personal terms have not yet been finalised.
If he completes his move to Vicarage Road, he will follow Jerome Sinclair, Isaac Success, Christian Kabasele and Juan Camilo Zuniga in arriving at the club.
