Sunderland fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to comment on the prospect of Ryan Giggs becoming the new first-team manager.

According to The Mirror, current Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is in line to take charge of the England national football team.

England are looking for a new head coach following the departure of Roy Hodgson at the end of the disappointing 2016 European Championship in France this summer.

It has been reported by The Mirror that former Newcastle United and West Ham United boss Allardyce is in pole position to become the new Three Lions’ head coach.

If Allardyce takes charge of the England national team, then Sunderland will need a new manager.

According to Paddypower.com, former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes is the favourite to take charge of Sunderland if Allardyce leaves the Black Cats.

The odds of Moyes taking charge of the Premier League club are 8/15, according to Paddypower.com.

Sean Dyche, Nigel Pearson, Steve McClaren, Frank de Boer and Roberto Martinez are also in the bookmakers’ list, and so is Ryan Giggs.

The odds of Giggs becoming the new Sunderland manager are 10/1, according to Paddypower.com.

The United legend has worked as a coach and assistant manager under Moyes and Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
