Kristoffer Ajer has reacted to his Celtic debut via the club’s official website, labelling it as the biggest experience of his playing career so far.

The youngster was one of the first new signings at the club this summer, having been captured by former manager Ronny Deila.

He made a surprise home debut on Saturday afternoon as Brendan Rodgers called upon him early on in the pre-season friendly with German side Wolfsburg after Erik Sviatchenko picked up a head injury.

Following a nervy start he soon settled and ended up putting in a top performance that saw him named man of the match in the 2-1 win.

And reacting to his performance, Ajer says it was amazing to have played in front of so many people for the first time.

“Running out there without warming up and I did some mistakes in the beginning that I’m not proud of but after a while I performed well,” he told

“[It’s] the biggest experience I’ve played in front of was 12,000 so playing in front of so many people was amazing.”

It now remains to be seen if Ajer can become a regular in the Celtic line up next season under Rodgers.

He was principally brought in as a midfielder, but this performance shows that he may have a future in the heart of the defence instead.

With that area being a particular weak spot for the Scottish champions, and Efe Ambrose coming in for consistent criticism, there is every chance for Ajer to establish himself in the position.
