Liverpool completed a move for the Southampton forward early in the transfer window.
The Southampton forward arrived as the club’s fourth summer signing after the Reds paid big money for his services.
They have reportedly paid £30 million plus for the Senegal international, a price many have considered a hefty one for them to pay.
There is the danger that he could be another expensive flop for Liverpool as a result but Barnes is not one of those concerned. Instead, he says he believes that Mane is a typical Klopp type player.
“I think he’s had a fantastic season at Southampton and he is a Jurgen Klopp type player,” he told talkSPORT.
“If you look at what he did at Dortmund, he likes quick, counter attacking, fast player. You don’t have to be the best technically but you have to be fit, strong and quick. So he is a typical Klopp type player.”
It remains to be seen whether Mane does prove to be a good signing for Liverpool in the upcoming campaign.
There is a lot of anticipation surrounding the Reds next season, with many people expecting big things after Jurgen Klopp’s first season in charge.
If they are to be successful then they will be reliant on the signings they make this summer hitting the ground running and it will be intriguing to see if the likes of Mane can live up to their considerable price tags.
