Leeds United won their last pre-season friendly during their tour of Ireland 3-0.

Garry Monk has told Leeds United’s official website that he had a productive team meeting with his players, midway through their tour of Ireland.

Leeds took on Shelbourne on Wednesday evening, and they managed to pick up a 2-1 victory.

The Whites’ performance in that contest did not entirely satisfy Monk, however, and he held a discussion with the players to let them know where they needed to improve.

Leeds showed some of the progression that they had made yesterday, by turning over Shamrock Rovers 3-0.

And Monk said: “I had a good meeting with the players after Wednesday’s game and there were a lot of things that we needed to work on, but I saw a definite improvement today and that’s always good.

“Again, there are still things that we need to improve on, but that’s quite natural and it was good to end two really good weeks away with two wins.

“There was more team ethic out there than I saw on Wednesday – it was a little bit more cohesive.”

Leeds were comfortable victors against Shamrock, and their goals came through a brace from Marcus Antonsson and a solitary strike from Chris Wood.

Leeds now head back to England, where they will step up their preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Leeds have friendly matches against Guiseley and Peterborough United to play in the next week.

Monk’s men’s competitive campaign gets underway on August 7th, when they take on Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.
