The Gers have already brought in eight new faces this summer, yet boss Warburton feels the Ibrox club are still short in certain areas as he looks to bolster his forward line with the signing of Dodoo.
Negaotiations are said to be ongoing, and Warburton is positive a deal can be struck as he shares with reporters what he sees in the Leicester man and why he wants to bring him in.
“Joe is a mobile striker, he is a technical striker, he is one of those players who can pull something out of the hat. He can look quiet and quite subdued and then he can beat a couple of players, drop a shoulder and curl it in the top corner. He has got that about him,” Warburton told the Evening Times.
Rangers used a number of loan players last season to help them win the Scottish Championship, yet this summer the Glasgow side are opting for permanent additions.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Nathan Oduwa was one man who spent time on loan at Rangers last term, and Warburton adds that Dodoo shares similar attributes to the Spurs youngster, saying:
“He is a good personality, a good athlete, a good runner, a good shape. He has Nathan Oduwa-type shape physically. It will be a good addition for us if we can get that one over the line. We think he is a real prospect. We like him.”
Dodoo is a Ghana-born English forward who has come through the youth ranks at Leicester, yet despite impressing his contract at the King Power Stadium has expired giving the Scottish Premiership side the chance to strike.
