According to reports from Sky Italia (via Football Italia), Swansea City are currently in pole position to secure the services of West Ham United striker Enner Valencia.

West Ham United have made it no secret of their desire to sign a new striker this summer and names such as Carlos Bacca, Christian Benteke and Alexandre Lacazette have all been linked with moves to Hammers over the past few weeks.

West Ham’s pursuit of a big name signing would mean that the Hammers will be looking to dispense with one of the strikers currently present in their ranks and as a result, Enner Valencia has been widely touted to leave the Olympic Stadium this summer.

Recently reports had emerged that Lazio were keen on securing the services of Valencia and the Gazetta World went on to reveal that the Italian side had already establish contacts with West Ham over the prospective transfer.

The report stated that Lazio were ready to take Valencia on a season long loan deal for a fee of around £1.6 million, with an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the upcoming campaign for £8.4 million.

In a dramatic turn of events though, Sky Italia claim that Swansea are to make a last minute swoop for Valencia and have offered an initial £8.4 million and a further £2.5 million in add-ons for the striker.

Swansea’s bid is clearly superior to that of Lazio and it is believed that West Ham are now leaning towards selling the Ecuadorian international to the Premier League outfit.
