Jamie Carragher has suggested to The Daily Post that Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell would be a good signing for Liverpool.

Liverpool are interested in signing Chilwell from Premier League rivals Leicester City in the summer transfer window, according to The Telegraph.

The British newspaper claimed last month that the Reds’ £7 million bid for the left-back was rejected by the 2015-16 Premier League champions.

It was reported that Leicester want at least £10m as transfer fee in order to part company with the England Under-21 international.

Liverpool legend Carragher has suggested that the teenager would be a good signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“They are looking at a young lad from Leicester – Ben Chilwell – he is someone who could come in and challenge (Albert) Moreno there, but it is certainly a position Liverpool need to full,” Carragher told The Daily Post.

Chilwell has yet to make his debut in the Premier League, but he is rated highly and is said to have a bright future.

The 19-year-old defender enjoyed a brief loan spell at Huddersfield Town during the 2015-16 season.

In eight Championship appearances for Huddersfield, the left-back created five chances, had a pass accuracy of 78%, and won four headers, 14 dribbles and 11 tackles.

Liverpool will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League next season.
