West Ham United goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel has been speaking to the club’s official website about his hopes for next season.

The 23-year-old featured in the Hammers’ recent pre-season friendly against Seattle Sounders but that match did not go according to plan, with Slaven Bilic’s men going down 3-0 with Spiegel conceding two second-half goals.

He again came off the bench for the second period against Carolina Railhawks and was unlucky to concede a penalty in a 2-2 draw.

Still, with Adrian and Darren Randolph competing for the goalkeeper gloves next season, Spiegel will know his first-team chances will be few and far between; something he appears to have acknowledged in a recent interview.

“For my development, I need to get more game-time, wherever that is,” Spiegel told whufc.com. “That’s my main goal.”

At 23 he will be keen to show what he can do at senior level having had barely any chances during previous loan spells at Crawley Town, Barnet and Carlisle United.

Now a little older, he could make a big impact at the right club and it will be interesting to see how things play out this summer, with Bilic sure to send a few fringe players out on loan in due course.
