John Swift is poised to turn down a new deal at Chelsea in favour of a move to Reading this summer, Get Reading has reported.

The England under-21s international has attracted the attention of several Championship clubs during this window, but Reading are understood to have won the race for his signature.

The 21-year-old's departure ends a nine-year stay at Stamford Bridge, with Swift earning a professional deal in 2012 after progressing through the youth ranks.

His one and only first team appearance for the Blues came on the final day of the 2013/14 season, where he replaced Eden Hazard during a 2-1 win over Cardiff City.

A move to the Madejski would signal a return to the Championship for Swift, who spent last season on loan at Brentford, where he scored seven goals in 28 games.
