Borussia Dortmund have become the latest club to be linked with making a move for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, the Shields Gazette reports.

The Shields Gazette claims that the Frenchman is hoping to leave the Magpies this summer, having seemingly not bought into the optimism that has developed at St James' Park following Rafael Benitez's arrival.

And while he has previously been attracting the attention of several Premier League clubs, the Shields Gazette is now reporting that the Bundesliga giants are interested.

Though the 26-year-old is keen to move on, one stumbling block to any potential deal could well be the asking price. The Shields Gazette reports that Newcastle value the midfielder at £35m, which would obviously be a huge fee for a player who will be preparing for a campaign in the second tier if no move materialises.

But with Benitez's desire to keep Sissoko receiving the backing of owner Mike Ashley, it may only be an offer that matches the asking price that sees a deal get the across the line.

However, Sissoko proved during the European Championships that he is capable of impressing on the bigger stage, so Dortmund may well decide to pursue a move in the hope that the two clubs can reach a compromise.
